Boxer Tech Performance EJ25D
Summary
This is Boxer Tech Remanufactured EJ25D engine has been built from the ground up with all new components to ensure a better than new engine at a price that is competitive to a new engine. Each block is torn down to it's individual block halves and cleaned, inspected, and milled. Both heads are pressure tested to ensure there are no cracks or leaks in the valves and then completely disassembled for cleaning and rebuilding. All of the valve seats are ground and polished to ensure the best possible compression. During assembly, the following components are used:
- Upgraded, performance-grade, main journal bearings, thrust bearing, and rod bearings that support a higher flowing STI oil pump to improve overall engine oiling
- Recondition pistons and rods
- Upgraded Piston rings
- Fel-Pro gaskets and seals
- OE timing belt, pulleys, and water pump
- Upgraded rear main seal
- Upgraded oil separator plate to replace plastic OE plate that is prone to failure
- MLS head gaskets
- OE Subaru thermostat
Once the engine is assembled, it is put onto our custom built, computer controlled, engine testing station and bench tested to ensure proper break in of the piston rings and bearings. At this time, we make sure the seals and gaskets are not leaking. The engine is ran for a solid 6 hours at varying RPM ranges, meant to simulate a typical city and highway drive cycle to ensure optimal engine reliability.

FAQs
What is included?
Our engines are sold as complete short blocks and long blocks.
What does short block/long block mean?
Short block is the term used to describe an engine with an assembled block and rotating assembly. Long block is the term used to describe an almost turn-key engine. You will have to reuse your complete intake manifold (including hoses, sensors, fuel rail, and injectors), throttle body, coolant crossover pipe, flywheel/pressure plate, harmonic balancer, accessories and drive belts, hoses, any external sensors not included with long block. If you are unsure what you need to transfer, please contact us for a more comprehensive list.
Do you offer "turn key" engines?
Yes! There is an additional charge for turn key engines. Turn key engines are the best way to get your car back on the road as quickly as possible. They are sold exactly as they are when they are removed from the engine test station. No accessories are included. You must provide your own AC compressor, alternator, power steering pump, and associated brackets as well as your own flywheel and harmonic balancer.
Which option is best for me?
Short blocks are ideal as a replacement for a spun bearing or an engine knock. Usually internal noises are caused by damage to the rotating assembly and rarely cause damage anywhere else if discovered promptly.
Long blocks are ideal as a replacement for an engine that has suffered a more serious failure, such as a timing belt failure or foreign object inside the engine that causes damage to more than just the internal block.
Turn Key is the ideal option for those who want to get back on the road the fastest and don't want to disassemble their old motor. It's the most cost effective solution because every component has been tested throughly, leaving no guesswork.
Is shipping available?
If you'd like a shipping quote, please contact us.
Do you offer upgrades to your engines?
Yes. We can build an engine to your specification, substitute parts, etc. A 50% deposit is required up front for all custom engines, with the remaining 50% due before pickup/delivery.
Do you offer install services?
Installation services are available for an affordable flat rate, which includes all necessary fluids and all gaskets, at our shop located in Chino Valley, AZ. The cost is $300 for long block and turn key, and $500 for short block installations.
Pricing
Short Block Engine Configuration: $1,400*
The most cost effective solution for someone replacing a motor with a tired bottom end. The short block comes assembled with full rotating assembly. Just add your heads and upper accessories and you're good to go. This is a great option for engines suffered from damaged internals.
Full timing kit can be added for just $100 more.
Long Block Engine Configuration: $1,800*
Long block comes with the short block configuration as shown above plus stock EJ25D heads, valve covers, timing components, and timing covers. This is a great option for those who suffered from timing belt failures, bearing failures, etc.
Turn Key Engine Configuration: $2,500*
Just as it is written. Just add fluids and flywheel and go. This engine is removed from our test rig, drained of all its vital fluids, and put on it's stand for delivery. All you need to do is install your choice of flywheel/flexplate, drop it in your car, and install your drive accessories (crank pulley, AC, power steering, and alternator). Perfect for those who want a no hassle motor swap. In most cases, you can be back up and running in less than 24 hours.
*Note: A rebuildable core is not required, but necessary to avoid a core charge. Core charges are as follows:
